Uig Community Local Groups
The various communities in and around Uig form a vibrant network of interests and experiences including sport, music, the arts, Gaelic culture, sailing, walking and climbing and many other aspects of island life.

Skye North West FC
Skye North West FC is football team that plays in the West Highland Amateur Football Association on Skye. It has teams in multiple age groups and plays it’s home matches in Uig from April to August.
Uig Gala Committee
The Uig Gala Committee organizes the Uig Gala, which is an annual celebration of local community and culture that takes place at the Uig Community Hall and on the Skye North West FC pitch.
North End Jam
The North End Jam is a regular music gathering that takes place in the Uig Community Hall. The focus is on community participation, although great musicianship is also welcome.

Awesome Uig
Awesome Uig was set up in 2025 as part of an Uig Community Council initiative to raise interest, create new ideas and create ways to focus volunteering to lift up and keep the area looking awesome.
So far we have renovated the bench and seating area at the memorial area at the pier and left the planters looking refreshed and full of flowers.
We are planning our first litter relay in February 2026 (see the what’s on section of the website) to pick litter from the verges whilst the hedges are bare, and March will see us sharing bulbs for the planters with our ‘Bring a Bulb and a gardening tip’ get together.
We hope that the Woodland Trust along with our amazing and committed volunteers in the area will organise another beach clean – keep your eyes peeled in the ‘what’s on’ section of the website and ‘All Things Uig’ Facebook page.

Uig Kindness Cabin
The Kindness Cabin is a food-share facility which works with local businesses (Uig Hotel, The Galley, Uig Filling Station and Rankins), Am Fasgadh in Portree, Skye & Lochalsh Foodbank and FareShare UK to receive food that can still be consumed and prevent it from going to waste. The Kindness Cabin is also received funding from the Uig Community Trust to purchase food items.
How can you get involved?
- If going on holiday, you could share food that you can’t or won’t use whilst away.
- If you manage self-catering properties, you can promote the food-share facility and ask guests to donate any unopened foodstuff instead of disposing of it.
- Visit regularly to take surplus food and support the reduction of waste.
- Become a volunteer – we have opportunities to enable increased opening and to support delivery days.
- Share your feedback and ideas with us.

All Things Uig
