Uig Community Trust

Uig Community Trust was set up in 2018 and covers the areas around Uig, stretching from Glenhinnisdal to where Idrigill meets the sea. It’s a diverse area of agriculture, hospitality, transport infrastructure, scenery and history, but its strongest asset is the people who are from here and from all over the world who call it home.

The Trust’s remit is to advance community development in all its forms from managing community land and regeneration projects through to local heritage and history.

The Trust has been responsible for large projects such as securing the future of the filling station to ensure fuel security for the whole of the north of the island and visitors alike, to contributing to new toilets and chairs for the village hall, noticeboards to keep the community updated and helping with the location and distribution of defibrillators, food provision for the Kindness Cabin and the funding of this website. We have more community projects at various stages of development and will be sharing news on those in the near future!.

The Uig Community Trust is working with the local community to produce a Local Development Plan and a Local Place Plan to create a community-centric view of future development projects for the area.
